The program:
Phase I:
Phase I is an orientation period during which the women become acclimated
to the residence and begin to learn about sobriety and the recovery process.
This phase lasts for approximately one month.
Phase II:
Phase II begins the treatment process. Women participate in various groups
such as Relapse Prevention, 12-Steps, NA/AA, Parenting Skills, Domestic Violence,
Life Coping Skills, Anger Management, Health Education, Library Exercise,
Sexual Abuse, Vocational/Educational and Stress Management. They are focused
on setting priorities and addressing the responsibilities of parenthood. The
women gain knowledge of how recovery directly impacts not only their lives
but the lives of their children.
Phase III:
Phase III begins vocational/educational training, job development and efforts
to secure adequate housing. During Phase III, the women and their children
move into a transitional unit within the program. While living in these transitional
units (efficiency apartments with private kitchen and bath), they take on
all the responsibilities of daily living within the supportive environment
of the treatment program.
Phase IV:
Phase IV is a transitional period that focuses on detachment from the program.
During this phase, the mother utilizes all the tools and techniques learned
during her stay at Regenerations and puts them into everyday practice.
A graduation ceremony is held for women successfully completing the Regenerations
program and family and friends are invited to this life-affirming event.
After care is highly encouraged for women leaving the Regenerations residential
program to help ensure that mother and children continue to receive critical
therapeutic and emotional support.
For children in the Regenerations program:
Regenerations provides a fully staffed therapeutic nursery, with child care
workers, occupational therapist, a registered nurse and qualified counselors.
Children are provided counseling and recreational activities designed to help
them deal with the environment and the physiological impact that accompanies
having a substance abusing mother. Infants and children are screened regularly
for developmental delays and disabilities. Appropriate referrals are made
if deemed necessary.
